JP Enterprises' certified mold inspectors offer various levels of mold services for your home or business. We provide mold sampling or testing only. We do not perform mold remediation services. Beware of companies who do both as there may be a conflict of interest.
Limited Sampling
This is our most economical mold service. Limited sampling means samples are taken at client requested areas only. Types of samples utilized are air samples, wall samples, carpet samples, bulk samples and direct contact samples using tapes or swabs. A control sample must be taken also.
The benefits of limited sampling are that it is a fast and economical way to determine if and what types of mold are present in the defined area.
The limitations of limited sampling are that other sources of mold may go undetected outside the defined area.
Mold Screening
One indoor sample per 1000 sq. ft. of living area is needed for best results. In addition, each source of visible mold should be cultured. Other recommendations will depend on results of a visual assessment. Customer may approve or decline inspector’s recommendations for additional sampling. If additional sampling is recommended, customer will be offered a chance to upgrade to a mold survey.
In real estate transactions, mold screening is our most popular service. It is routinely ordered by the buyer and is done along with the other pre-purchase inspections. JP Enterprises offers a discount for mold screening when combined with other inspection services.
Mold screening includes a visual assessment of the home to identify any potential problem areas combined with limited sampling for mold. All types of samples may be utilized. A control sample must be taken also.
The benefits of mold screening are to look for problem areas and identify and determine the cause of mold discovered.
The limitations of mold screening are that it is non-intrusive so hidden areas of mold may go undetected. Complete sampling and further field assessment is needed to write remediation specifications.
Mold Survey
One indoor sample per 1000 sq. ft. of living area is needed for best results. In addition, each source of visible mold should be cultured. Other recommendations will depend on results of the survey. Customer may approve or decline inspector’s recommendations for additional sampling.
The purpose of the mold survey is to detect the presence of a microbial problem in the readily accessible areas of the property by following prescribed protocols and by collecting appropriate data to enable remediation specifications to be written.
Mold surveys are most often ordered by homeowners who know or suspect the presence of mold.
The benefits of a mold survey are to identify and determine cause and provide corrective measures for all mold sources discovered in the house.
The limitations of a mold survey are that it is non-intrusive so hidden areas of mold may go undetected.
